Playing 5-star rated tracks of a mixed playlist only?

I have a few thousand tracks of my music style. They can be subdivided into 2 categories: the 5-star tracks - and the rest.

There are situations where I want to listen to all of them - that's no problem, I know how to do it.

But then there are situations where I only want to hear the 5-star tracks. I know how to give them a 5-star rating. But how do I make sure then Winamp plays only these?

Create a new smart view in the library, use the "Library" button --> "New smart view...".

Choose "Rating" "Equals" "5" and give the view a name:

Now just right click on the new view and select play, should excatly do what you want:

Thanks for your reply! I'll try it out and notify you then. May take a day or two, however.

Ok, it didn't work - there just weren't the functions you described. You probably have the paid version while I still use the one that is free of charge. I'll keep that in mind for the next update. Thanks for assisting!

No its not because of the paid version or something like that. Its rather you who have the lite version instead of the "Full" version - which is the one you need.

And you know that when he says "Smart view", its in the "Media Library", NOT the "Playlist Editor", right?

You don't need the paid version. What do you mean by there just weren't the functions you described”?

1. From the Media Library click on the 'Library' button on the bottom left and select 'New Smart View...'
2. From the 'Choose a Preset' box select 'Custom'
3. if needed click the + button to expand the "formula" bar and edit as Koopatrooper described

That new category should be under 'Local Media' in the ML

Yeah, had some trouble with stashbox yesterday and imagshack automatically generates forums thumbnail code.

Shame on you too, you've recycled my images in your thread.

No drama, we just have an insane sense of humor when teasing each other. What you saw here is nothing compared to the freaks at General Discussions.

Are you still there?

This is getting weird. I DID have (and continue to have) the full version. Its exe file is called winamp5541_full_emusic-7plus_en-us. So we're apparently talking about the same version. Where do we start to diverge then?

You said: From the Media Library click on the 'Library' button on the bottom left and select 'New Smart View...'

I open the media library by e g (there are other ways) clicking the ML key on the player (down right in the main window, above the flash symbol). The new window's title is MEDIA LIBRARY. But there is no 'Library' button on the bottom. What I get to see are Play, Send To, Add, Remove, Select, Miscellaneous, Manage.

If I instead in the menu select View, then Playlists, the keys change to: View List, Play, Enqueue, New, Import, Save.

If I click on View List, the keys change to Play, Send to, Add, Remove, Select, Miscellaneous, Manage.

But then I must admit that I have never used the ML before, and now where I try to get there through trial-and-error, I find that I can't really handle it - it acts in a way that I don't quite comprehend. There will be a logic behind it, I'm sure, it's just that I presently don't look through it.

Is it possible that I need to make certain settings before in this context via options, preferences, ML etc? Which ones, if applicable?

Over?

Do you not see the tree-like structure on the left of the library like in the screenshot posted by JonnyMac? Then drag the divider at the left to the right to show it and the library button.

@ J_Darnley:

Your tip was decisive, thank you. I actually didn't see the tree, probably because my window was as small as could be.

Yeah, now I could do what had been proposed. Next thing will be to check 3600 tracks, then decide which ones deserve 5 stars...

Thanks to all of you!
