RIpping kills performance on my PC

Takes like 5 minutes to open Firefox !

WinAmp Pro 5.541

ASUS M2A-VM HDMI mobo, AMD Athlon X2 2.8 Ghz, 2 Gb RAM, Sony AW-G170S DVD, WinXP latest patches

Ripping one album using MP4/aacPlus, normal priority, listening to another (already ripped)

The funny thing is the Task Manager show only about 10-20% utilization !

WhaZuP ?!

Your system is more then just a processor. The bottle neck could be with your memory or hard drive speed too. But ripping and encoding is a kind of resource intensive process.
