True enough, I did not test it at lower bandwidths. But it also seems that people tend to choose the higher speed sites when searching places like ShoutCast.
The big difference between mp3pro and aac, for me, is that people that choose not to install a plug-in for mp3pro can still get the stream on their regular player, whether it be winamp, wmp, itunes, etc.

Well, my WinAmp encoder doesn't offer AAC, it only offers AAC+ (doesn't say what version). And SAM(4) only offers v2.

Actually, I wasn't bashing aac, I was bashing the people that keep bashing others for using mp3 over aac. Honestly, some of those threads are why forum sites in general aren't more popular. Internet nerd/nerve runs rampant.

Well, I will agree with you on that point *cough*AOL*cough*
It would seem to me that the people that are smart enough to install a plug-in to their player, would rather pick a higher speed station anyway. And, most people are on broadband connections now and don't selectively look for low speeds.
Now, with more people trying to use their cell phones, a market for lower-speed quality could be coming back. But, it looks like WMA might be leading the way there. Maybe the aac efforts should make a big push there.
