files dont automatically play ...

i uninstalled then reininstalled the latest winamp free player in my comp... however now the problem is when i double click on any mp3 file it does not automatically play in the winamp... what i ve to do is - open the winamp first, click on the desired file and then select the option "play in the winamp" from the drop down menu... earlier it wasnt so... can anybody help... thank u

open the preferences window and go to "file types" then mark the file types you want to associate with winamp (in this case mp3).
