Odd Behavior when on Soundcard Input
I am in the process of setting up a small shoutcast station here at my college for some fellow students, and I've spent all day trying to figure out why this happens:
When on winamp output, shoutcast outputs music fine and in good quality at a normal volume. I am able to listen to music on (LAN) and off campus, however, the second I switch to soundcard input mode (which is the mode I need to use since I have a microphone coming in the mail right now) the stream instantly becomes barely audible and it crackles and pops. The music is still reaching the client pc's, since if I turn all the settings all the way up, you can hear the music as a barely audible whisper. I understand that once shoutcast dsp is on soundcard input, it streams all sounds from the host pc, and the volume level depends on the volume on the server. However I had to max all settings of every type of volume on the shoutcast server just to make the stream barely audible. Again, I only get this prolem the second I switch to soundcard input, when on winamp output, the stream comes in crystal clear and at normal volume, so this def. tells me its a volume/soundcard problem, but I am going to need to use a mic., so I need to fix this problem preferrably within the next few days. Any help or tips whatsoever are greatly appreciated, thanks. |

**UPDATE**
I also tried playing youtube, etc things on soundcard output, and got the same soft static-ey results... so it doesn't seem like a Winamp specific problem, it definitely has to be something messed up with a soundcard setting or something... |
