Karaoke plugins won't work

I've tried a half-dozen of the various karaoke plug-ins and they all exhibit the same behavior. The lyric window opens, a few colors display in garbled fashion and lyrics won't display. It seems to work flawlessly on my other machines (XP) but this is a new Vista machine (Compaq cq60-210US). I've played with a few of the settings but have made no difference. Each different plug-in I've tried does exactly the same thing. I'm using KJAmp currently (most recent version). Oh, and I just downloaded the latest edition of winamp yesterday. I've also let windows update pull down all the latest installs. Still no dice.

help.
