This has got to be the most annoying thing ever! Whenver a new track loads Winamp turns my master volume all the way down. I have checked on this forum and found suggestions such as disabling the winamp volume control and trying different output methods but none of these work. This did not happen for the first two weeks I had winamp installed. Why did it start now and is there anything I can do other than switch to another player ?

Thanks but none of that worked
Already read that link. Tried those things as posted in my original post, none of them worked.

And the volume slider in the main winamp window is up high enough?
(eg. not at zero!) Also, if you're using the EQ, check the pre-amp slider is up high enough (don't go too high though or you'll probably get distortion) and also check that the Auto (presets) button is switched off. If it still happens, what filetypes does the problem occur with? mp3, wav, mid, wma, audio cd, other, or all? |

It happens with all file types but depending on the file it happens a bit differently. If I am listening to an audio CD, the CD Volume in the Windows Master Control window is reset to the lowest setting at the start of each new track. If I am listening to an mp3, It is the Wave Volume setting that is reset to the lowest setting when a new track starts. By the way, I am not using EQ in winamp and the volume slider is all the way to its highest setting.
