Just in time-debugger
Shortley after installing Winamp I got a messagebox telling me about this "Just in time-debbuger" and I couldn't use Winamp at all. After some cursing I reinstalled it and it worked just fine, until this messagebox shows up again after some usage of the player. Can i fix this somehow?
I use Winamp 5.5

Close Winamp
Go to your %AppData%\Winamp\Plugins folder Open gen_ml.ini in Notepad Change the following line accordingly: last_view=Local Media/Audio currently, it's probably set to one of Dashboard or Now Playing. Save gen_ml.ini As for why the error is occurring... Now Playing, Dashboard, Online Services are just embedded Internet Explorer pages. Maybe you've disabled Internet Explorer, or your security settings are too high? FAQ Script/Runtime Errors in Now Playing, Show Info, Dashboard http://forums.winamp.com/showthread.php?threadid=258575 http://forums.winamp.com/showthread.php?threadid=258559 You should be able to disable the JIT Debugger in Internet Explorer, via: Windows Control Panel > Internet Options > Advanced tab: Checkmark both "disable script debugging (IE/other)" options Uncheck "display a notification about every script error" Or go to: Control Panel > Admin Tools > Services and disable Visual Studio JIT Debugger, if listed. Look for a service that points to one of the following executables: C:\WINDOWS\system32\vsjitdebugger.exe C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\VS7Debug\vs7jit.exe |

"Open gen_ml.ini in Notepad"
Can't do this. When i open the file i can't read the code. "Or go to: Control Panel > Admin Tools > Services and disable Visual Studio JIT Debugger, if listed. Control Panel > Admin Tools > Services and disable Visual Studio JIT Debugger, if listed." And I can't find these options. I use the swedish version of XP so there could be some translations problems, but i think there should be a similar name. |

gen_ml.ini, not gen_ml.dll
Because you didn't include a List Of Plugins, I don't know what your exact Winamp $IniDir is. By default, Winamp 5.5 stores settings in the %AppData%\Winamp folder, which on English WinXP resolves at: C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\Application Data\Winamp\plugins\gen_ml.ini Settings will only be saved in the Install Dir (eg. C:\Program Files\Winamp) if you upgraded from a 'shared settings for all users' installation (as opposed to a 'separate settings per user' installation). It will probably help for you to go to: Control Panel > Folder Options > View tab Uncheck: Hide extensions for known file types Checkmark: Show hidden files & folders (you can always reverse these settings afterwards, if you want) Now you should be able to find the %AppData%\Winamp folder (%AppData% is a hidden folder, by default), and also see the .ini extension (and all other file extensions). Re: Services The JIT Debugger might not be registered as a Service. That's why I said "if listed". You should be able to disable it via Visual Studio config (assuming you have MS Visual Studio installed?) |

not alone
Well, it helps a little to know that I'm not alone with the problem, but not a great deal. It is really annoying. Isn't there someone from WinAmp to help here?

I'm still waiting to see a HijackThis log and a List Of Plugins (use the standalone version if you can't get the One For Nunz plugin to work).
