Winamp 5.55 crash on open

Hello,

I have always preferred Winamp to other media player and have used it for years now.

But...recently every time I open it it just crashes and i get the message "Winamp has stopped working"

This happens every time I open it now. I have tried reboot and uninstall/reinstall and the problem is still there.

I am running on Vista btw

Anyone else experiencing anything similar

cheers

I just installed 5.55 on a windows XP system, and it crashes everytime i try to play a song.

It was working just fine shortly after installation. Then i added an mp3 that i had created through a 3rd party mp3 encoder. I then removed that mp3 thinking it was the cause of the crash, but then Winamp still crashes. I restarted, did a clean unistall and reinstall and it still crashes.

Not sure what's going on here.

System specs:

Windows XP service pack 3
1.5GB ram
1.3ghz processor
soundblaster audigy sound card
radeon 9600 video card

At this time, winamp is completely non-functional. And not sure if there's a way to roll-back to the previous version?

Edit: the gen_nomad.dll file is NOT present in my plugins directory. The threads referencing this indicated to remove this file, however, in my case, it is not present.

Just started

This just started happening to me today (6/11/09).
Could be the new Vista update that just installed.
I have tried reinstalling Winamp to no avail.
