trouble with dsp plug-in configuration
I have tried my best to follow the instructions to the letter, and I have even tried to work around my problem using common sense, but this one has me baffled. When I right-click on the link for the DSP plug in and save target as " (default file name)" to my desk top, the icon on my desktop does not look like either picture in the online documentation. I am not able to unzip this using winzip. It seems to have its own self-extracting tool built into the download. However, using this tool at first did not work, and somehow I eventually did get the plug-in installed (i think). (I now have a file called SHOUTcast Source for Winamp v 1.8.0 (dsp_sc.dll) in the right pane of the Winamp Preferences window when i highlight DSP/Effects under Plugins on the tree). However, under the instructions for configuring, a dialog box labeled SHOUTcast source should pop up when I highlight the above mentioned plug in file. This does not happen.
In fact, nothing happens. The odd thing is, the dialog box mentioned DID pop up when I was trying to get this intalled, but at the time I was following the instructions to the letter, and it wasn't time to do anything with it, so I closed the box. Now that I need it to happen, it doesn't seem to be available. Any clues? Thanks in advance from a newbie. BTW, I have verified the I have the correct codec. Mike W. |

update from original post
in case anyone is trying to help on this one, I just happened to notice a new icon in my tray- turns out to be the shout cast souce. Somehow it seems to have self-installed. (? go figure). Anyway clicking on it brings up the next dialog box as per the online documentation, so even though it didn't work exactly as documented, it seems I am well along.
