Winamp process not ending
Hello,
I'm using the latest version of Winamp. When I exit the application, it disappears but its actually still running, the process is still there. When I want to launch Winamp again another process of winamp.exe runs but I don't get to see the application. So what I have to do is launch task manager, end all processes of winamp and relaunch the application, then it works. This problem have been irritating me since a while now and I hope someone can help me fix it. edit: I'm using Windows Xp 64bit Plugins attached Many thanks in advance |

Hi
Could be any of one of these 3rd-party plugins to blame, but I'll put them in order of suspicion... Ray's G15 Plugin v0.1 [gen_g15_ray.dll] LCD Miscellany Winamp Plugin 0.1 [gen_LCDMisc.dll] MessengerAmp v3.0 [gen_msn.dll] VGM input plugin v0.34 [in_vgm.dll] Enhancer v0.17 [dsp_enh.dll] [active] LcdStudio Visualization Library v1.0 [winampnative.dll] Jammix Enhancer 031 [dsp_jammix.dll] Lame MP3 Writer plug-in v1.6.4 [out_lame.dll] With Winamp closed, go to your "C:\Program Files (x86)\Winamp" folder, create a new "Backup" subfolder in there and cut+paste the above DLL files into it. Reopen Winamp and see if the problem persists. If it doesn't, then one of the above was to blame. To determine which one, you can start restoring them, one after the other, closing & reopening Winamp inbewteen until the problem resurfaces. |

Hm, thanks mate. It seems to be gen_g15_ray.dll, winamp closes fine without it. I'm stupid I didn't think of this.
By the way, I got a question, I monitored the process winamp.exe when I close Winamp.. there is a bit of a delay between closing of the window and the process actually ending, is that normal or should the process be terminated as soon as I close winamp window ? thanks again

Not a bad guess with my 'order of suspicion' then :-)
When it closes, Winamp does the following: Saves the active playlist to winamp.m3u8 & winamp.m3u Saves general settings to winamp.ini Saves modern skin settings to studio.xnf (if you're using a modern skin, which you're not) Saves media library settings to gen_ml.ini Saves the media library local database to main.dat/main.idx Maybe also needs to save other settings depending on what's been used in that session (eg. bookmarks, cddb, etc) Saves settings for any 3rd-party plugins Ends system processes Kills winamp.exe process The more plugins, and the more cpu/memory concurrently in use, the longer it can take. Naturally, cpu speed etc is also a decisive factor.... How long of a delay are we talking? More than 10 seconds? |

It's a 4 seconds delay, just tried to measure it. Is that normal ?
