can't play cda
Hello,
I'm unable to get my newly installed version (5.551) of Winamp to work with normal music CDs (cda/wav). The music CDs play fine with Windows Media Player 11. When I look in options/preferences/file types I find that the cda extension and the wav extension are not listed there. In fact, there are a lot less extensions listed there than the winamp help page "Making Winamp the Default Player" indicates should be available. Makes me wonder if something did not get installed? It's probably something simple, but I can't find it. In Windows the cda extension is associated with Windows Media Player and changing it to winamp does not work. Winamp works fine with mp3 CDs and with online music stations. I'm running Windoze XP SP3. thanks, Dave The file types that winamp has associated with it are; MP1,MP2,MP3,VLB,M3U,M3U8,PLS,B4S. |

Reinstall the full version of Winamp. Make sure CD support is selected in the installer.

Thanks Sawg - even though I didn't find anything labeled "CD support" there was a section during the install that allowed for the association of extensions to Winamp - most of them were NOT checked - I checked them and Winamp now plays the music CDs - no problems.
Thanks for your help. Dave |
