Media Library problems and crash

I am running WinAmp v5.552 on a Windows Home XP SP3 laptop. I have a shared network folder that I use to hold my music. Winamp has its media library filled from that drive. I have a smart view set up to show 3 filters (genre, artist, album).

Everything seems to work fine for a few days, then after rebooting, nothing shows up when clicking on Local Media / Audio (or any of the other Local media nodes). If I try to Edit the smart view, or add a smart view, Winamp crashes.

Let me know if I can provide more detail or help debug in any way.

Thanks for any help.

I am suffering from the same problem, it was working fine until today but now Winamp just keeps crashing, I downloaded the latest version but it still crashes.

I also have my music on a network share, maybe its related to a Windows update or something as it was working fine last week?

I'm running Windows Vista x64

This first started happening last week for me. Uninstalling and reinstalling fixes the problem. But, I have to re-import my library, which takes about 30 minutes or so. Not the end of the world, but irritating, particularly if I have to do it more than once a week.

Another clue: I tried rescanning the local watch folder. This crashed as well. I sent the error report this time.

This _might_ have to do with shutting down windows while WinAmp is open. When I simply hibernate, things are good. It feels like the library is corrupt and WinAmp chokes as a result.

The rest of Winamp works fine. I can load a playlist for example and play from it, or open a folder on the network and play it. I just can't use the library to find things by tag.

One more clue lending credence to this being a problem with a corrupt library. I cleared the Media Library (Winamp Preferences / Media Library / Local Media - Clear Media Library button), then rescanned (Winamp Preferences / Media Library / Local Media / Watch Folders tab - Rescan now button), and, I can again view my Local Media Audio node in the tree.

So, a work around, but, a timely one (about 1/2 hour for me).

Any comments on this from the Winamp team? Let me know if I can help isolate the problem.

Thanks,

Same here

Recently I loaded up winamp to listen to some music and found that whilst the Media Library window was visible the area where all the media is normally displayed was empty. I could view the media on my portable device, as well as bookmarks, history and online services.

I tried to edit one of my smart views, but this crashed winamp, I also tried rescanning my watched directories, but this also crashed winamp. Upgrading to the latest version of winamp did nothing to solve the issue.

Eventually I tried clearing the media directory and re-scanning as suggested here. This did seem to fix the problem.
