.pls Files

I have a .pls file on a remote server which contains the path to an .mp3 file. Using Firefox, clicking on a link to the .pls file merely shows the text contained in the .pls file. If I rename the file with an .m3u extension, the file starts to stream (starts playing before the entire file is downloaded), which is the desired behavior. Why doesn't a .pls file behave the same way? I have both m3u and pls enabled as Winamp file types.

It is actually due to a misconfigured webserver. Is this one you run, or though a webhost?

It is through a web host (LunarPages).

This makes sense because I am able to stream radio stations from other hosts. The links have .pls suffixes.
