Winamp Online Service doesn't work v5.552
Hi,
Did brand new WinAmp Pro v5.552 install yesterday and can't get Winamp Music Online Service to work. OS: WinXP SP2 WinAmp: 5.552 Browser: IE7 Symptoms: When I click on WinAmp Music link, I get a list of categories which I can then drill down on to a list of artists but when I click on one of the artists I'm not presented with any albums, tracks, listings or anything else; just a blank right-hand pane with the artist name at the top. So far I've tried on the recommendation of previous posts: 1) Adding http://*.winamp.com http://*.shoutcast.com http://music.aol.com http://*.aolcdn.com to my Trusted sites in IE7 2) Disabling AV (McAfee v8.5) 3) Stopping Ad-aware service 4) Disabling Firewalls 5) Disabling Phishing filter. But with no change. Shoutcast works OK though without any of the above being changed. Wireshark Packet Capture - shows that the xml album lists are being requested corrrectly. Testing the HTTP GET in a browser produces the list of Albums etc as expected, so it *looks* like there is a problem with processing the xml or rendering it for display. Have attached a list of plugins as required. thanks in advance for any assistance. |

For the "Trusted Zone" tip, try it with out the http:// prefix. You may have to remove the previous online services entries you made.
Otherwise, please provide additional Winamp & system specs. |

I see a possible sign of mallware from the HjT log.

yeah I know about that; it must have been left over after my beloved installed MyWebSearch toolbar. Quickly uninstalled it again, but must have missed that bit.
Gone now though :-) cheers MrFlibble |

Is Online Services behaving again? You issue reminds me of a similar one that I had with Online Services. After doing some checking, I discovered that one of the address that goes in the Trusted Sites, was inadvertently placed in the Restricted Sites. So you may want to check that.
Otherwise, have you tried a full uninstall > reinstall (AKA clean install)) of Winamp? Additionally, I have a vague memory of a suggested fix. Try check-marking 'Enable third-party browser extensions' in the Advanced tab of IE7's options. This was a suggested fix from about the time IE7 was in beta or just came out in public release. Changes to Online Services since then have probably made that IE option change unnecessary, but you might want to give it a try. After all of that, I am at a lost as to what may be causing the issue. Anyone else? |
