Network Performance

Winamp v5.552

When running winamp i get major network speed drop. I stream music from my server over a switched gigabit network. But whenever im running winamp and try to utilise the network i get constant 5 MB/s but as soon as i close winamp the speeds rise back to normal speeds of around 30 MB/s.

Its got me confused

Has anyone else had this problem?
