No Sound Output

I just downloaded Winamp 5.552. It successfully installed, and launched. I clicked on a song to play, and it opened a second Winamp window (???), and crashed.

After restarting Winamp, I started a song, and though it's "playing" (the progress bar is moving, and the playtime is increasing), no sound is coming out of my speakers. I've restarted my computer, reinstalled Winamp (twice), and gone through both the Technical Support and Tech Greatest Hits forums to no avail.

How can I listen to my music again?
