Podcast error
I use Winamp v. 5.552 with Windows Vista.
I want to subscribe to radio podcasts. When I hit the "add" button and type in the correct link (for instance http://podkast.nrk.no/program/20_spoersmaal.rss), using default settings, I get the following error message: Error adding URL Invalid link (404 or timeout) Occasionaly, it works, but not most of the time. I have turned off automatic settings (update on launch and download media automatically) and tried to restart the programme, but it hasn't helped solving the problem. What should I do? |

I've seen this thread, and it doesn't give any solution to the problem. Also, it's an old thread (from 2007).

I realize that is older thread, however it was taken directly from the Troubleshooters Sticky, of which kept updated by DJ Egg.
I am able to subscribe to that feed, however I am using WinXP. Sometimes it is just temporary fluke at the server and it might be working now. Anyways, there were two suggestions in that thread. One of them was to add the subscriptions without the http:// prefix. Another was to download a patch patch (ml_wire.dll) and place that in the Winamp/Plugins folder. According to the File Info preamble, a file was just uploaded today. I do suggest to make a backup of your current ml_wire.dll, just in case you may need to use that again. |

This feed doesn't work by removing http://
http://www.p4.no/lyttesenter/podcast.ashx?pid=330 Also, Norton indicates that the .dll file site is unsafe to visit, with two safety risks, among them one virus: http://safeweb.norton.com/report/show?url=stashbox.org Anyway, I tried to remove the http:// and to replace the .dll file, but still I've got the same error. |

Have you tried a full uninstall > reinstall (AKA clean install) of Winamp? No luck, please provide Winamp & system specs.

Still doesn't work
I've done a clean install now without any thirdparty plugins, and it still doesn't work. Thus I've carried out all instructions in this post, and the problem remains.
Winamp and system specifications: - Plugin list is attached. - Laptop: Dell Studio XPS 1340. - CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo P9500 2.53 GHz. - RAM: 3 Gb. - OS: Windows Vista 32bit SP1. - Video card: Nvidia GeForce 9500M. - DirectX: Version 10. - Winamp: Version 5.552. - Winamp installation type: Full. And the error message remains the same, see the attached gif in the first posting. |
