Global Hotkeys help
I know there have been post asking this before
(which remain unresolved) So i'll ask again When playing Battlefield 2(and some other games) I lack the ability to use global hotkeys unless I alt+tab to desktop. I've tried just about every hotkey plugin for winamp with no luck whatsoever. So my question is, Is there anyway to use hotkeys to control winamp playback while in games. Thanx in advance for help

the problem is that directx games can cause all standard hotkeys to be disabled which is what you've had happen to you. unless the directx api can be hooked into to get into it's keyboard support then there's not much that can be done i believe.

Okay. I see where we're going with this. Funny thing is, I'm having the exact same problem, but it hasn't always been this way. For the longest time, I could use global hotkeys combined with the media keys on my Logitech G15 keyboard, along with a number of other global shortcuts I had made e.g. ALT+UP, ALT+DOWN, etc... These worked for as long as I've been playing Battlefield 2 (since release), and across multiple computers.
Suddenly though, a few months ago, Battlefield 2 started ignoring Winamp's existence altogether. None of my hotkeys would work, including the media keys built into my keyboard for that express purpose. So, I tried an older version if Winamp, but that didn't solve it. I also have verified that it's ONLY Battlefield 2 that's ignoring Winamp. If I'm running any other game or full screen app, I can manipulate Winamp no problem. Also, if I try manipulating iTunes while playing BF2, I can control it no problem. So, it's something between BF2 and Winamp that changed, and I reeeeally wish I could pin down when exactly it went sour, so I could recall what I changed software-wise. Maybe this changes things? Any ideas? |

two years later
hi out there,
now two years have elapsed since the last reply had been written - and now the same problem that troubled Frantic119 troubles me. In my case, the game is called "The Witcher" and my system is a standart Win-XP with latest drivers, service packs etc, Hardware is working without problems though. Case is the same: from all applications, full-screen or not, I can control Winamp with global Hotkeys. Except this program. Are there any new findings about how this problem may be solved? Note: nView is not the cause for this problem, I alredy checked this! Thanks a lot every one who can give me a satisfying answer! |

Like said before, some games disable hotkeys.
But there is an applet for the G15 (shows songs on the lcd screen and such) wich will still let your winamp be controlled in-game (tried BF2 and BF2142 myself and works.) www.g15-applets.de /ray-s-winamp-plugin-t206. html If the link does not show look it up through the image below... ![]()

(Critical)default Global Hotkeys not working in fullscreen mode when watching movies
![]() im a winamp pro, im working with it since 1997, but since 1 year i have 2 problems in global keys in v5.581 : 1) i enabled "default WM multimedia key support" option found in winamp "Global hotkeys" options, to be able at the same time to control globally "winamp" or "windows media player" if one of them is running. until now, i can control winamp when watching movies in NON fullscreen mode, but when i switch into Fullscreen mode the Global keys stop working at all ![]() 2) the "playback volume up" & "playback volume down" global hotkeys will only control winamp interface volume, not the general sound card volume. in result the windows sound volume will remain at its max level i hope if you can help me as soon as possible, keep up your good work !!! |
