WinAmp Crashing my system

I just downlaoded WinAmp 2.75 and installed it (using the autoextract file I downloaded)... Before completion of the installation my sytem just hangs, requiring me to cold restart my PC. Running the file from the directory a second time resulted the same....Crash and Hangs.

What could be the problem?

I do not have "state of the art" components but never does my system behaves like that. I have basic SB16 card with basic ATI card, directX 7 installed and numerous other applets.

PLease help.

run scandisk and a virus scanner

Did this, done that....to no prevail!

It simply just freezes my system up. I re-installed every driver possible after winamp installation. Zipo.

Shoking!
