Hi,
I have found some bugs and some features that winamp needs. 1. When writing a id3v2 tag winamp rewites the whole file. This is OK but the time and date of the files is changed to the time it was rewritten. I was wondering if you can make it keep the same date and time as it was before winamp gave it a new date and time. 2. The file info id3 editor doesn't select id3v1 and id3v2 automatically. I think it should. 3. The genre in id3v2 needs changing so that if I click on it and keep pressing say t it goes through the list so you don't have to type it in. (Like it is in id3v1). 4. Making the mving box/animations not jaggered. 5. What about a digital cd plugin? Winamp is the best and these 5 things fixed/added would make winamp the BEST AND BUG FREE player their is ![]() From Scott (A Loyal Winamp user, Sonique SUX!!)

Well, in my opinion, you haven't found any bugs whatsoever.
1. The ID3 tag is actually written into the MP3 file itself, so the modified date is going to be updated no matter what software you use to edit the tag. There is NO workaround! 2. The ID3 editor can only select according to the current existing tag. This is the info it reads & is the same for any ID3 editing software. You have to make this selection manually & according to personal taste. 3. I haven't got a clue what you mean here. As far as I know it's the same in both v1 & v2, except there's more genres to choose from in v2. 4. It all depends on your CPU & speed; RAM; Videocard; drivers; etc. 5. CDReader plugin |

I don't think it would be that difficult to do; if you visit http://www.essi.fr/~berger you will find a shareware program what will actually allow you to alter dates and times on demand, so it shouldn't be too difficult to code something that temporarily stores the old date and time and then writes it to the new file. (If that makes any sense!) |

The "created" date always stay the same, it's the "modified" date that changes!
(Explorer -> Hi-lited File -> Properties) Sadly though, Windows arranges files by the modified date, not creation date. (Explorer dir -> View -> Sort Files by -> Date) Though I've not got any personal need to do so, probably likewise for most people, but if needs be so, you can edit the file's dates using any decent hex/binary editor. btw, I checked your MIKADO link out, but couldn't be bothered reading it ![]() Maybe some other time, eh? ![]() |

The program that used to be at that link allowed you to change both the creation and the modified date of a file by adding a new file properties page.
I've found a new link now... (damn internet, keep moving my bookmarks around without telling me!) http://www.zdnet.co.uk/software/free...file/sw47.html and this time... I've even downloaded the file to check it's there! |

LOL ![]() Nice one c2R, I've just downloaded it myself. Looks pretty cool! Don't ya just lurrrv ZDNet! btw, the first link actually was to the author's site, Berger Laurent, but there doesn't seem to be any mention of his Date & Time Property shell extension any more. He's obviously moved on to newer projects (eg. Mikado) since then. Cheers -> Egg. |
