disable menu key next to left arrow??
Is there a way to disable the key to the left of the left arrow key?? It happens often when rewinding using the left arrow while playing that I hit that key and a menu goes up.
Thanks for your support! |

SOLVED!! might fix an aggravation for you :)
I found the solution......it is a free download called "Sharpkeys". It was super quick to do the fix with. I should have done this years ago.
http://www.randyrants.com/2006/07/sharpkeys_211.html Sharpkey is a small, simple program that allows you to change the functionality of keys on your keyboard (assign them different funtions, disable, etc). I don't believe it is program specific, just overall windows keys probably. Cool thing I did not even have to find the name of the key to adjust, just hit the "type key" button on the program and hit the key. It recognized the button and I then choose disable in the other menu. Once I did that it I had to restart the computer so it can change it in the registry. Again problem I was having was hitting the right click hotkey next to the left arrow when going back during playback of a song. The key looks like a document with an arrow on it and is sometimes in a different spot on the keyboard, but still the right. It's actually a windows hotkey that I never use. If I hit it accidentally, the right click menu goes up and I lose funtionality of my winamp hotkeys until I hit the play bar with my mouse. BTW......if you do not know these, here are a few VERY helpful winamp hotkeys. I am a musician that uses this to learn music. Using Winamp with these simple keys make practicing easier and keeps the flow to use your time more efficiently. I have used winamp for 10 years now as my practicing tool as a full time professional musician and will not use anything else if working on material. ARROW LEFT = while playing the song, hitting it moves it back a little while it continues playing. Saves a lot of time, for it goes back and continues without stopping playback!! Hit it more times and it goes back further. Great for when you mess up some notes or section and want to repeat it RIGHT THEN without stopping! ARROW RIGHT = same thing but forward ARROW UP AND DOWN KEYS = volume up and down C KEY = pause the song....hit again and it continues playing. GREAT for when charting a song out! X KEY = go to the beginning AND begin playing it. I love this key ![]() Other sidenote: I use Pacemaker if I ever want to adjust keys and tempos separately http://www.winamp.com/plugin/pacemaker/12689 I can slow down the song and still have the winamp function keys if I click back on winamp after I adjust on Pacemaker. Speeding it up is great for listening to the song really quick to make sure you have a chart written right. If you need the song to be in a different key altogether, you can adjust that too and save the setting for whenever you play it again. Hope all is well! -Marc |

Solution to winamp and windows hotkey problems!!!
This may be an unnecessary post, but just wanted to direct your attention to the solution I found in the topic "disable key next to right arrow" because the solution can allow you to adjust or fix windows hotkeys and their functionalities IN GENERAL besides what I wanted improved with my winamp experience. I am by no means soliciting (have nothing to do with the program, simply found the free program after some long searching for a solution via Google
