Hello,

I've been using Winamp for years now, but it's giving me a headache on Windows 7 x64 (ultimate).

I don't use any advanced stuff: just playing mp3 files from a local harddisk and streaming radio.

Sometimes it works well for days but on other days it can suddenly freeze in the middle of a song/the stream.

I can't kill the winamp process, not even with pstools.
I just have to wait like 5 full minutes until it closes or continues to play.

The weird thing is that some other programs hang as well while Winamp is hanging.
For example my Visual Studio 2008 becomes unworkable/stops compiling while Winamp is hanging.

I tried several of the latest Winamp versions but all give the same problem.
I even installed only the basic modules, but to no avail.
(classic skin, no winamp agent, no visualization, ...)

I'm running:
- Windows 7 x64 - ultimate
- Intel Core i7 920 cpu
- Gigabyte GA-EX58-UD5 mainboard

Any idea what I should do ?

Thanks in advance.
I have the same problem.
WinAmp works fine for a while, then just stops. If I exit, do a ctrl-alt-del, end the winamp.exe process, I can restart WinAmp and it plays ok again, for a while.

I also have a GigaByte motherboard, the MA785GMT-UD2H. I have the latest drivers from the website, but it still happens.

I'm running Win7 Home Premium 64bit, AMD Phenom II X4 965 Black Edition 3.4GHz, 2Gb RAM.
