MP3s will play but I can't get any sound out of my Boston BA635s. Sound will come out of the system speaker only. But the odd thing is, when I play CDs, sound does come out of my speakers (BA635s). Has anyone run into this problem? I am running NT 4.0 and my Winamp version is 2.75. Any suggestions would be great.

What type of soundcard do you have installed? Does it play the system sounds okay?? And what do you have the speakers hooked up to??

That's the problem, to play mp3's you've to plug it in to your soundcard instead of the earphone jack of your cd-r player.

That's interesting. I never had any problems with this before switching to NT. I was on Win98 and this worked great. Thanks for the reply and have a good one.

I don't think thats possible. There is no way to play system sounds through the CD-ROM jack. Anyways, you got it fixed

Hey, I finally have something good to submit to http://www.rinkworks.com/stupid!

Anyhow, believe me, it is impossible to get MP3's to play from the CD-ROM speakers!

It seems that you have an oddly wired system. Like they hooked up the speaker/line-out to the system speaker or something.

I think the people in your office, or whoever hooked up that computer, doesn't deserve his job

I don't think so. If he is running NT at work, then he may be using a workstation. Lots of workstations have built in internal speakers connected to the soundcard. When you plug in external speakers to the back of the soundcard, it disables the internal ones. This is not the same as the system speaker, which plays back generated tones to give error alerts, etc.
