Hi,

quite a few times (actually during a few months by now) I have been trying to upload an update to an existing skin as well as a new one. Being logged in alright, after hitting the "Publish"-Button I always get the error message "Component names may only contain a combination of letters and numbers". Well, it does, I have tried many names, and they all only contained letters and numbers like e.g.: "dwb20se.wsz" This even complies to 8.3
I also tried several Browsers and turning off the firewall. Nothing helps. Any Idea?

Bye...Andreas

Try submitting it without putting the .wsz file extension as part of the component name. The . isn't a letter or a number. Try it as just dwb20se

That does not help - I mean in the form it is asked for the component as the location and name of the file on the harddisk for uploading. There is even a button that says "browse" ... if I take away the .wsz, the file ist not found PLUS I get the error message mentioned before.

Hmm, thousands of people seem to be successfully uploading their files - what's the deal?

Bye...Andreas

This is the solution: The error message tricked me into thinking, that with "component name" the filename was meant. But it meant the name - the title - which was irritating, because the name of my old and successfully published skin did have more than letters and numbers in it.

So long...Andreas

Thanks Agi

After an hour or so of not being able to post my skin, I found your post, hit myself in the head to knock some common sense into it, and took the ampersand out of the title!! Thanks for posting the solution!
