playlist name on top of playlist editor
This would be a good feature so we know exactly what playlist is being played. When changes are made, its good to be sure that we are saving changes to the right playlist. Maybe this can already be done but I'm not aware of it. If so could someone please email me on <content removed>. Otherwise please consider this in my wishlist and maybe you can consider in the next version. thanks

Forum members and moderators volunteer their time to provide support and a lot of us prefer not to provide support via email, but instead provide support here in the forums. Part of the riginal intent of the forums, was a place for tech support. Also, your email address has been edited out of your post to prevent spamming of your email. Evil people have created programs that can sift through the web (areas like forums) and pull out email addresses.
Anyways, as an alternative you could try DrO's Playlist Separator plug-in. Think of it as "sticky notes" for the playlist editor. It will allow you to insert lines, heders/footers, notes, etc. in the playlist. For your purpose, you can insert/place the name of the playlist at the top. In the Playlist Separator options, checkmark 'Open separator info dialog on manual adding'. Then you will be able to type in the playlist name as a "separator". |

Playlist Separator
I have downloaded plugin playlist separator as you advised. Unfortunately I did not understand how to use the software. All I want done is the playlist to be on the playlist interface of winamp so I know which playlist is being played. Say for example, I have 2 playlist. One is Elvis.m3u. and my second playlist is Madonna.m3u
1) Do I type Elvis.m3u in Default Separator or at Preset Separator Strings. Is it possible to enter the playlist name in winamp so that when I open the playlist, the entered playlist in the separator will appear. I emailed Dr.0 at doctor.o@virgin.net <doctor.o@virgin.net> but my email bounced. Please help. thanks |

I don't think there is a way for the playlist name to automatically be shown as an "separator".
The plug-in was mentioned as a workaround. However, you would have to manually enter the name of the playlist as a separator. To do this, you will need to change a option in the plug-in... 1. Winamp > Ctrl+P (for Preferences) 2. Plug-ins > Input 3. double click 'Playlist Separator' 4. checkmark 'Open separator info dialog on manual adding 5. close out of Prefs The when using a playlist, you can click the topmost playlist item and press Alt+T, then a pop-up will appear where you can type in the name of the playlist or something else. |

well i'm not too sure how that old email address was found as i don't reference it directly anywhere i thought.
what is being asked isn't directly possible as the playlist editor has no knowledge of where things have come from once they have been added into it - the playlist editor is effectively just a temporary list where Winamp picks files to play from. from what you've put, using something related to %folder% may be a close approixmation to what you're trying to achieve but there's no current way for the plug-in or Winamp to report the name of a playlist the files has come from. -daz |

Hello rebse8
I wanted to make sure you have seen the replies to your thread, but also make another suggestion. Have you thought about using Media Library Playlists? The ML Playlists is a list of playlists thus allowing you to see the name of the playlists and edit them much like using the main Playlist Editor. You can import your existing playlists on your drive by right clicking on Playlists (from the left column of the ML) and selecting 'Import playlist from file...' After importing a playlist file, the name of the playlist will appear in the left column of the ML. |
