Decoder not found when converting vgm to mp3

I have purchased winamp pro so i could use the mp3 converter. I have also downloaded the necessary plugin so .vgm files will play in winamp. .vgm being music files from sega genesis games. However, when i attempt to send to converter and select the mp3 converter. I receive a message which says "transcoding fail... "cannot find decoder". i have a feeling my problem is more due to my ignorance of the software...could anyone help clear things up for me?

The ancient 3rd-party vgm plugin would need to be updated to use Winamp's transcoder.

You might be able to use the Disk Writer output plugin to convert vgm to wav
and then use the Transcoder to convert wav to mp3.

As Egg said, it's up to the plugin authors to update their plugins and provide support for the media library and the Winamp transcoder API.

There are in_vgm dev builds available, which support the transcoder, if I can remember:

But note, that these builds are unstable test versions.

does anyone have any incite as to where i could obtain a similar updated plugin for .gsf files?

Nope, sadly in_vgm is the only plugin, which was updated to use the Transcoder API. The only workaround is writing files via the DiskWriter output plugins.
