Hesitation at 4-6 seconds in

I am experiencing a brief hesitation of each selection at approximately 4-5 seconds in. It seems to coincide with the notification, but it happens whether the notification is on or off. It doesn't occur with all songs but certainly more that half. For me, this is a new development. It started when I updated to 5.58 and still occurs with 5.581.

Let me update. I tried playing a number of the selection that this seems to occur and it exists in the .mp3 file I ripped. So I conclude that winamp is inserting this delay when the file is being ripped from the CD. I have the pro version and I have the encoder set to CBR, Stereo, 320 Bitrate and the Quality set to Very High. I am using the MP3 Encoder v1.35a. I have changed the Maximum speed to rip but that doesn't seem to have any effect.

when ripping audio, the mp3 encoder is meant to specify information in the files about the true position of the start of the audio data so that there shouldn't be a hesitation in the output. however, if something intensive is happening at the point of a song change then it's possible for what you're experiencing.

providing a plug-ins list -> http://forums.winamp.com/showthread....161361#plugins may make it easier to work out if there's a plug-in conflict going on with your install which may be causing the issue (or just to validate your install's details).
