Window transparency fade

I had an old version of winamp, which i refused to update for a couple years since i was happy with it. XP crashed, had to reinstall, and now i had to get the new ver of winamp. It's fine, no problems, but it appears the transparency option has been removed? Is there a plug in for this? thanks.

The old one you'd set a transparency level and it would fade out when the cursor was not on it, and return when the cursor hovered over it again.

Check the right click/ window settings / Opacity menu.

it won't appear if not using a modern skin. it will require a re-install of Winamp with Modern skin support enabled under the user interface section of the installer.

Modern Skins have opacity support. The Winamp Modern and Bento skins are examples of modern skins. WM and Bento come with the default install of Winamp. If you don't have modern skin support then try reinstalling Winamp.

The Modern Skin support option can be found in the Choose Components section (page/window 4) of the installer under the User Interface Extensions branch...

The screenshot is from an older version of Winamp, however it mostly be the same for 5.581 for the Modern Skin Support option.

If you want opacity support for classic skins, then you will need opacity plug-in for classic skins.

Nice, this should work afterall. After reinstalling windows i'm looking into doing all kinds of new decorative touches on wondows. Fading winamp is kind of necessary.

The peps at the windows forums are being a little quiet with my questions, anyone here able to tell me about this, i'll just copy paste:

I'm looking for anything that would enable the white background of the windows to become transparent. I know how to enable full transparency, but I'd like to know if there's something out there that wouldn't fade the text, icons or pictures in the window, only fading the back. Thanks.
Anyone?

I wouldn't call it pulling at strings, Robster400, i had to reinstall all kinds of drivers this time, including an ethernet driver. That was fun. Thanks!

Well, it works. Kinda.

I reinstalled it, but only modern skins support it, and previously i was using the classic skins with the opacity. The plugins that you linked to, JonnyMac are completely different plugins, are they not? From the description not all of them have % control and probably don't have Opaque on hover either.

So there's no way to get the modern opacity support for classic skins at all?

Can I get the old winamp back? Are there old versions available somewhere, like 3 years old?

The Crystal Classic Skins Plugin best emulates the opacity for Modern Skins. However, I have not used that plug-in for a whlie now.

Which old version of WA did you have?

It was pretty ancient, I'd say about 2 years everytime i stared it up i obstinately refused to update it. Only because I knew something like this would happen, where a version update would mess something up. Well, that worked until windows crashed.

I'll try that Crystal Classic Skins Plugin, though i'm a tad skeptic.
