listed, touched, but no sound

I'm having some confusing problems. My shoutcast station is listed, shows up in a search, & my sc_serv says 'touched'. I can even access & hear the station from my phone (G1/Android, using AntPlayer). However, whenever I use a browser to try & play the station in a broswer with flash (on my laptop, or on my desktop, using a PC in both cases) I hear nothing. Also, if I use my laptop & Winamp, it tries to connect but taps out after about 30 seconds.

Is it possible that my config file is set up wrong? Can someone walk me through changing it?

I've been searching & searching for someone else with the same problem, but haven't found anyone.

Station is Weirdo Records.

Thanks very much,

Angela Sawyer

I was able to tune in for over 2 minutes with Winamp. I did notice that your server type is Win32 at 96Kbps. If you are trying to broadcast straight from home/office it's not going to work because of bandwidth limitations The cutting out your experiencing is probably bufferring. Your station has been playing in Winamp for the entire time I typed this, so you're going to have to get a host.

Okay- I don't expect loads of listeners. So getting a host is going to be a better idea than changing the broadcast quality? Is there a free host everyone uses?

I appreciate your time. Haven't messed with shoutcast in a while and I'd forgotten what a tangle it can be!

Thanks very much,

There's no such thing as a free host (to my knowledge).

If you're looking for CHEAP, http://www.makeavoice.com has plans for 50 slots at $10.00 a month or so. I've never tried them myself, but I saw them posted elsewhere in the forum and the poster said he never had any problems.

Good Luck!

Thanks for your advice: fast & reasonable! I got it running (for the moment anyhow) on myradiostream. Working, listening through my laptop successfully. Still fussing with various configs, but looks like that'll do as a bandaid for now.

Thanks very much,
