no midi sound in

Since a few weeks my Winamp 5.581 doesn't play midi files - no sound from the speakers. The same files are played correctly in Windows Media Player, and winamp also plays wav- or mp3-files without any problems.

What can I do to solve this problem??

1. Winamp Ctrl+P
2. Plug-ins > Input
3. double click 'Nullsoft MIDI player'
4. Device tab
5. in the 'Device:' dropdown box select another MIDI device. Maybe something that closely reflects your sound card or "Direct Music / Microsoft Synthesizer (with output)"
6. close out of prefs

Dear Johnny Mac,

thanks for Your response. The problem seems to be that there is no midi plugin listed under plugins-input!!

Try reinstalling Winamp and make sure MIDI support is checkmarked in the Choose Components (screen/window 4) of the installer options. (Multimedia Engine > Audio Playback )

I'm using Win7 64 and this doesn't work (no matter what device I select). Every time I try to play a midi in winamp (latest version) it keeps pressing the play button a bunch of times per second and no sound comes out (as if the file being played isn't being found). I have to close winamp because all the buttons become unusable. MIDI works fine in windows media player. I have the latest drivers for my onboard audio.
