Winamp Lags

If I'm using firefox or really any other program on my computer and I have winamp running in the background I've noticed it lags, a lot. I've checked my usage statistics and, while my computer isn't the best, it should be good enough to run winamp and firefox at the same time. I looked it up on google and it seems I'm not alone in this but never found a solution, can anyone offer up one? I was running the latest version of Winamp Lite and I rolled back to a previous version to see if that would solve my problem, it did not, so I went back to the latest again.

I tried everything in the thread to no avail...has a fix been found yet?

AMD Athlon XP 1.4ghz
1gb DDR400
Creative CT4780
Nvidia FX5200
