will not play from SHOUTcast

I have winamp 5.13 and can not get it to play music from SHOUTcast. Im not trying to broadcast, just stream music from the web. When I goto my library it has an error 404 Not Found and wont show the shoutcast radio stations. I installed the same version on another computer and it works fine (still doesnt work in the library but it plays). I uninstalled and reinstalled 5.13 on the other computer and it still will not play. Does Winamp need something else installed to play music like this? Whats the problem here?

You are using a old version of Winamp 5 and SHOUTcast has had a major overhall. Install the latest version of Winamp, for compatibilty with the new SHOUTcast system.

I was afraid of that. Does it only work with the very latest version or will specific ones work? Id like to use a version that uses very little cpu/ram, I read that version 5.541 uses the lowest. Will this version work?

And why will it work on my desktop but not my other computer? Different browser?

Winamp 5.581 is latest and only supported version in these forums. Also compared to your very old 5.13 version, 5.58 has a lot of new nice features (ReplayGain, 24-Bit Playback, MilkDrop 2, Unicode support, Gapless Playback, Vista/7 support, full localization, vastly improved media library) and security fixes.

Winamp 5.581 doesn't use more ram or cpu than older versions. All components are optional, simply check in the installer, what you want and uncheck the features, you don't want.

You even can use classic skins, then winamp has nearly the same ram/cpu usage, than Winamp 2.x

Older versions can still stream SHOUTcast stations just as many other internet radio stations. However, older version of Winamp can not make use of the Media Library version of SHOUTcast.
