Winamp doesn't detect dvd writable drive

Older versions of winamp used to detect my USB cd/dvd burner but 5.58 does not. I have done several clean reinstalls and nothing worked until I went back to an older version which detected my USB burner instantly.

Here's my info

Please include all relevant Winamp & System specs, including:
-I have no plugins installed besides what you get by default in a clean FULL install.
-motherboard- asus M2N-E SLI
-AMD athlon 64 X2 Dual Core 4000+ at 2.1 ghz with 3 gigs of ram
-integrated sound
-video card: ati x1550
-Windows 7
-DirectX 11
-Winamp version 5.572 (working) 5.58 (not functioning properly as described above)
-Winamp installed as FULL
-I don't play videos on it
