Cannot connect to Shoutcast server on VPS
Hi everybody!
I've got myself a VPS, and I want to run a Shoutcast-server on this VPS. The OS is Ubuntu Server. I have downloaded the Shoutcast DNAS and edited the config-file. This is what the status window says: Spoiler: Quote:
So far everything seems fine, but I cannot connect to the server. I use SAM to stream music. I also run a Icecast -server on the same VPS, and that works fine. If I try to set the Icecast-server as a relay-server, the status window gives this message: Spoiler: Quote:
And this goes in a loop until I exit the server. What is wrong, and how can I fix this? |

Could your VPS host provider be blocking ports?

I tested the shoutcast-server on the same port I run icecast (8000), and then it worked fine. It seems likely that some ports are blocked. I'll contact the provider, and ask them if it's possible to open ports.

if you can't connect to the shoutcast socket, then shoutcast has no stream ... which is why icecast is saying "no data" ... because there is none!!
when you installed icecast, did you need to open port(s) for it to work? Perhaps you need to open ports (10000 and 10001) for shoutcast General Shoutcast troubleshooting guide

No, I did not have to open ports to use icecast, and as I mentioned in my previous post, Shoutcast is working fine when I run it on port 8000. |
