hard drive and winamp issues?

i downloaded your most recent winamp (v2.75x86 apr 30,01) and it seems to run my hard drive (western digital 40gb 7200rpm) when winamp is idle on my desktop. i am pretty sure it is winamp running my hard drive because once i shut off winamp it stops..

i am running on an hp 8290 win98 64mb, 40gb

Do you have any viz plugins open when it does this? It could also be caused by dodgy 3rd party General Purpose plugins.

no i do not have any plug-ins on winamp, except for the ones that are pre-installed onto winamp, which i never use..

That's pretty interesting. Something similar happens with the DVD-ROM drive on my computer with WinAMP. There isn't any remedy that I know of.
