Apparently the legislature disagrees, as they have apparently not succeeded in rescinding this "Measure".

I think every one agrees that Measure 11 has seen it's share of abuse. They agree that DA's have used it to railroad innocent people into a plea bargain. This interferes with a right to a fair trial. I personally know one guy that is an example. I am absolutely certain he was acting in self defense when he kicked some ass. His "victim" had a rap sheet a mile long.

I think the main reason that it has not been rescinded is that you'd have to shut down several of our 14 prisons.

Money has become more important than justice. Incidentally, this is just about the same time traffic fines quadrupled. It doesn't seem to matter to our politicos that justice is not being served by a lot of this "anti-crime" nonsense that escapes reason.

Ostensibly, this town is supposed to have economic development from silicon farms. Scrape a little of the paint off, and it isn't too hard to figure out what the real industry is here. That would be the jail!

Oregon being one of the most extreme examples of that. Washington County Oregon being one of the most extreme example of that in extreme Oregon.
