Constant Disconnection
I have been searching for a solution to my constant disconnection problem for a week now but I only see problems and no solutions.
However, my situation is that I have my shoutcast server up and running.. as well as winamp. I can connect to the server and stream via my network. So that I can go to any workstation and type say.. "192.168.254.10:8000/listen.pls" and presto, I have music. However I cannot get anything to happen when I try to connect via the Internet. I am using no-ip to get a "static" IP address and have 8000 - 8001 forwarded in my DSL router. I can ping the stream from any machine on the network via the Internet. So that when I ping "mediamaderadio.no-ip.org the ping give me the desired results. I have also used port checker to make sure the ports are open and YEP.. they are open. When I however type "mediamaderadio.no-ip.org:8000/listen.pls in the URL it gives me a cannot connect error. I have directly to the shoutcast website, I find the radio but when I click play, it behaves as though its working but there is no sound. Looking at my logs I notice the service keeps disconnecting every second. For example. 01/17/11@07:00:53> [dest: 205.188.202.174] starting stream (UID: 411)[L: 2]{A: ultravox metadata puller}(P: 1) <01/17/11@07:00:53> [dest: 205.188.202.174] connection closed (1 seconds) (UID: 411)[L: 1]{Bytes: 16384}(P: 1) <01/17/11@07:01:23> [dest: 205.188.94.204] starting stream (UID: 412)[L: 2]{A: ultravox metadata puller}(P: 1) <01/17/11@07:01:26> [dest: 205.188.94.204] connection closed (3 seconds) (UID: 412)[L: 1]{Bytes: 57344}(P: 1) <01/17/11@07:01:53> [dest: 205.188.202.172] starting stream (UID: 413)[L: 2]{A: ultravox metadata puller}(P: 1) <01/17/11@07:01:54> [dest: 205.188.202.172] connection closed (0 seconds) (UID: 413)[L: 1]{Bytes: 16384}(P: 1) <01/17/11@07:02:01> [dest: 192.168.254.5] connection closed (1472 seconds) (UID: 363)[L: 0]{Bytes: 11886592}(P: 0) <01/17/11@07:09:05> [yp_tch] yp.shoutcast.com touched! Can anyone give me some definitive information as to what is really happening here and what am I missing? Its been a frustrating week just trying to get this resolved. Listening.... B |

That's a healthy logfile. Those messages are the AOL YP service successfully connecting to your stream. It's not unusual to be unable to connect to your own public IP from inside your LAN. Many routers don't support loopbacks (U-Turns).
However... I can't connect using your no-ip DNS info. The YP connections in your logfile don't rely on that DNS entry. It connects directly to your public IP address. Assuming your server is up, I'd verify that the no-ip DNS information is correctly translating to your public address. |

Hi..
I am tempted to say I got this problem resolved! When I go to Shoutcast's page and run the pop up it works slightly beyond perfectly. However when I try to run from the mediamade URL... it says nothing. Important to note also that the pop will only work off the local LAN! Using the local LAN to listen requires a local IP addy. Needless to say, I still not have the exact solution but I have something that works for now.. will continue with the research of course! Belan |
