Winamp is converting my MP3s to WAV when played

I don't underdtand this. I downloaded the new shoutcast source and saw my Winamp go through songs that were 3 to 7 minutes long in a matter of seconds, I went to the folder where the songs are and found WAV copies that did not exist before. I uninstalled the shoutcast source and this still happened. Has this happened to anybody else?
I'm using Windows 7 64 bit, HP Pavilion.
