MP3s playing in double speed

Hi,
Can you tell me why occasionally my mp3s play in chipmonk mode, could it be because I've recored in variable bit rate ?
Also is there a command line to close Winamp ?

Odd one, try:

Preferences (Ctrl-P) > Plug-ins > DSP/Effect > Select "none" > Close
