Double-click the speaker icon on your windows taskbar. go to Options -> Properties and click Recording. Make sure that [b]CD-Audio[b] is selected as the recording device. Once it is selected WinAMP's visuals should work for CD.

Download and install the CD Reader plugin. Be sure to read the associated readme file first though. Once installed, the visualisations and equaliser should work with audio CD's.

hi ethan_h,
thanks for your reply. unfortunately, i dont know how to change the original cd plugin`s extension.
could you help?
Ok, very simply, the first thing you need to do is to be able to see the file extensions. In windows explorer, go to tools -> folder options, and click the "view" tab. Uncheck the box that says "Hide extensions for known file types", and get out of there. You should now be able to see the file extensions in windows explorer. Go to the plugins directory (by default c:\program files\winamp\plugins) and right-click on in_cdda.dll. Select "rename" from the menu, and name the file in_cdda.dll.off. Now install the CD Reader plugin. The reason for this is taht if you didn't rename the file, both the dafault plugin, and the cd reader plugin would try to read the AD, and list each song twice in the playlist.

cdreader's help is evil. isn't it easier to rename in_cdda.dll to _in_cdda.dll ? it has exactly the same effect...

If it has the DLL extension Winamp will see it, it will be loaded. You will have two instances of CD songs in your playlist. (i.e. the proplems people ahve with double MP3 enteries)
