Attempting mp3 stream locks up PC.
Very frustrated. Really, it locks up bad. It forces me to hold the power button.
On my last awful XP PC I was tuning in perfectly. I'm now on 7 64-bit. No antivirus no nothing. Please advise.. Also..I can throw my gateway IP in my browser, and unblock port(s). Perhaps..? I haven't the slightest idea. |

I was just curious to know. This is DI.FM stations. "Regular" ones from the front page, under "Listen Now".
This doesn't relate to SH0UTcast does it..? I've never heard of that until now. I've awaited over a week, and this hit 2nd page. Pardon me for the bump. |

if the machine is locking up completely when trying to play one of the streams then i'd be more likely to think it's an issue with a driver or something like that as i've not seen any other reports of stream lockups - seeing how popular DI.FM is, if there was a major issue then i'd have expected to see loads of reports.
however, what stream exactly are you trying to access as they provide streams in a number of different formats and also from different server types so knowing that might make it easier to suggest something to try but i doubt there's much i can really suggest. -daz |

The .mp3 streams 96k. Lounge.
Another time I sat here for maybe a quarter to a half a minute, and regained control and stopped the stream attempt. I bought this PC last year, end of summer. It's all factory. No drivers no codecs, nothing played with. |

assuming you're using 5.60x, i'd at least try installing http://download.nullsoft.com/shoutca...Stream_Fix.exe and see if that makes any difference (it's a patch for SHOUTcast v2 stream handling but may help especially from your comment about waiting ~15-30seconds).
otherwise, the Lounge stream works fine on what i can currently test on both in a classic skin and also with the Bento skin. -daz |

last thing is to see what's in your Winamp install -> http://forums.winamp.com/showthread....161361#plugins (attach once run) and will see if anything jumps out from there, otherwise i'm out of ideas as i cannot reproduce the issue no matter what i've tried.

If it's just that one stream, clear your internet cache to make sure you're not pulling up a corrupt playlist all the time.

from a quick look at the plug-ins list, the following are the ones i'd try disabling (renaming .dll to .off) to see if they make any difference though i'm wondering maybe if one of the additional input plug-ins is incorrectly trying to process the stream (i know in_vgm can do some streaming, no idea about in_spc and the rest don't from what i remember).
Mojo Master Visualizer [vis_MojoMaster.dll] zsKnight and _Demo_ SPC Player v0.600(x86) [in_spc.dll] VGM input plugin v0.35 [in_vgm.dll] 64th Note v1.2 beta 3 Mar 31 2007 [in_usf.dll] Alpha-II SPC Player v3.3.4 (x86) [in_snes.dll] -daz |

I attempted to tune in with all those plugins disabled, yes renamed to .off and still same problem.
This is my only gripe with trashing my old XP PC. Cannot tune into di.fm There's an odd folder here in the main Winamp folder. Microsoft.VC90.CRT containing a Microsoft.VC90.CRT.manifest and msvcr90.dll. The .dll seems familiar from somewhere else here..I haven't got a clue |

the Microsoft.VC90.CRT folder is fine as without that Winamp won't run.
the only other option i can think off is to try a clean install once you've backed up any skins, etc that you want to keep which is detailed on how to do in the following link -> http://forums.winamp.com/showthread....d=161361#clean and see if that makes any difference. otherwise i'm out of suggestions (just seems weird as there's no reason i can think off for it to not work with DI streams as no one else has reported an issue). -daz |
