Indeed. Sharing my stuff with my roommates on Windows XP was easier than on Windows 7. Took me a while to get it to work right.

Can't simply share a folder, then do a shortcut link on my roommate's laptop to "\\MyLaptopName\SharedFolder" anymore. Microsoft had to go and make it more complicated.

Agreed. Sharing could be made much easier. I guess they went for the safe approach and block everything as much as possible and boost security protocols.

Maybe so, but would it be so difficult to add an option somewhere to turn the safety crap off for expert users?
