rebuffering radio streams fixed by running WMP a few seconds

The new Winamp (5.61) rebuffers every few seconds on playing 320kbs shoutcast streams, when it never used to (everything else being the same). If I open the stream in WMP (Windows Media Player) it works fine in media player, THEN it starts to work fine in Winamp from then on unless I log off Windows. It doesn't mater which 320Kbps MP3 stream, they all play fine in WMP and other players right off the bat. Only Winamp has this problem which goes away after opening the same stream in another player for a few seconds.

I'm running Win 7 (both 32 and 64 bit) on 2 partitions on this PC. The same thing started happening on the 32 bit system when I updated to the new Winamp, and it is fixed the same way. As soon as I open the stream in a different player the stream starts, and continues to, play fine in Winamp afterwards. I can then close the other player in a second or 2 while Winamp works fine from then on. I have different firewalls on the 2 partitions and have tried turning them off. Is there some bug in the new Winamp that hasn't been addressed yet like this? Is there a fix?
