Ungodly Annoyance: Media Window Panes Do Not Remember State
Winamp 5.621
Clean install, no plugin Language Pack: English Skin: Bento, Classic (both exhibit bug) OS: Windows Vista x64 Locale: English US When clicking from pane to pane in the media browser going from one pane to another (ie. from my 'Local Media/Audio' library listing to my 'Android drive' listing resets the view to the pane default (ie. the top of the alphabetically-ordered list) This is a major impediment to getting around from library to library. Here's a use case where this issue arises, to help illustrate the problem: I want to browse my library to transfer some music to my device but I've found some music that I'm not sure whether or not it's already on the device. I begin at the Local library with the three pane window view and browse for some music. In the top left pane I scroll and get to Nine Inch Nails. I click the name of the artist, the album listing shows up in the top right pane and I browse the listing. I decide I want to transfer The Fragile because that album is fucking awesome and I haven't listened to it in a while, but I can't remember if it's on my device. I click over to my Android drive library and browse to my Nine Inch Nails listing and confirm that I indeed don't have that album on my device for some strange reason so I click back to the Local Media/Audio library to go copy the last selected album. Much to my dismay the three-pane library listing has reset to the top of the alphabetical ordering and I have to scroll down to NIN again and then drag the album over from there to sync it to my device. It's not a show-stopper, but I'm sure if you devs work with the library yourselves (in your off-dev time) you'll find it to be something of sufficient annoyance. I recognize that this is caused by simply not implementing any sort of 'pane-scroll-remembering' code, but I think it would be a fairly small 10 - 15 hour bugfix and would go a really long way to improving usability in the media library. If you want I'll devote some of my time over the next little while to fixing this bug. I'd be happy to sign an NDA, download the code, and help you make this media player that I've used ever since high-school (ie. 12+ years ago) just that much better. (: .iaui. |
