upgrade to 5.621 from 5.601; application hangs on startup

I installed version 5.621 of Winamp.
I installed version 5.621 over the prior version 5.601 (something like 5.6*). I did not uninstall the prior version. The new version was installed in the same location as the old version.

Now Winamp hangs when it starts.

I'm guessing I have uninstall and then install. Ugh...
I'm just posting this here in case other people see the same issue.

Installed Winamp 5.621.
The application starts. I selected a skin (bento). The notification bar popup shows new track "Llama Whippin' Intro". Then Winamp just hangs. It remains greyed out (I think Windows7 does the grey out) and unresponsive.
Forcing Winamp to close requires a wait of about 10 minutes (I use ProcessExplorer to kill process. Then wait 10 minutes and Winamp if finally killed).
Had prior version Winamp 5.6*somthing* which I uninstalled before installation of Winamp 5.621.
I recently updated my Windows7 machine (the Windows Update feature).

Windows 7 reports "Winamp is not responding".
