After 5 seconds there is glitch in every played track

I am using Winamp 5.621 with a Shoutcast plugin to stream music to an IceCast server.
On the client site I am using Winamp 5.621 to listen to the stream.

When a new track starts to play, after 5 seconds, the song moves 2 seconds forward. This is always the case, with every track that is played through the stream.
This is not occuring on server side.

I tried playing with the buffers, turn off fading, but I keep on getting these glitches.

Does any one know what could cause this behavior and how to fix this?

What Anti-Virus do you have? Tell it to ignore your music folder and try again.

This is a strange one...

And the standard question - give us a list of your pluggins, ideally using the onefornunz application from the sticky at the top of the forum.

you also might want to post in the shoutcast forums, as this may be a DSP issue. DrO would prob be interested in this.

not if it's with broadcasting to an Icecast server (hence why i've not moved it). also it's not clear from the first post if it's even using any of the officially provided SHOUTcast tools though if so then they aren't really supported when used with Icecast.

As an antivirus I am using McAfee Internet Security 11.0, I am not sure how scanning my music folders is of any concern for this issue. The glitch is happening on client side only, when listening to the a stream.
When I listen to the tracks on server side (where the tracks are also physically placed) I don't have this glitch.

I'm encoding with ADTS-AAC Encoder using variable bitrate upto 96kb

The IceCast has version 2.0.1 and is running on a Qnap 209 Pro II (qpkg installation package)

Skanda,

i don't think i understood that, so let me see if i now have it straight...

you have setup a winamp withthe winamp dsp, and send the stream to icecast, and when you listen as it broadcasts on that end, it sounds fine.

however, when you connect to the icecast, the winamp on the listening/receiving end stutters at the beginning of each track, is that correct?

if so, have you tried doing everything the same, but replacing icecast with shoutcast DNAS?

That is correct.

I would very much like to replace icecast with shoutcast DNAS but I could not find shoutcast DNAS for QPKG.

I tried listening to the stream with VLC and there the problem does not occur.

hmmm...

so the interesting thing is that client winamp stutters, but client VLC does not. looks like vanilla installs too, no 3rd party stuff.

maybe winamp just doesn't like icecast? what do they say at their forums? unfortunately i can't help, so you'll have to convince DrO.

btw DrO and Egg:

notice the spelling error in GP plugins: Nullsoft Media Libraby v3.60

Libraby?

On the icecast forum they are not so responsive as on the winamp one :-)

btw does anyone know if there is a shoutcast DNAS for QPKG anywhere?

I know that the market for this is probably not that big, but someone here would definitly appreciate it ;-)

we really need the stream to try out - just saying things aren't working doesn't help too much. as recently one user was seeing specific stream issues which no one else was.

also you've mentioned 'a Shoutcast plugin to stream music' - what plug-in and version is that?

that happens when you've manually entered the plug-ins list instead of just copy+pasting the properly generated file. no where can i find 'Libraby' in Winamp's source code.

i get the feeling he does this locally, like a private LAN. i hope he responds to you. but i think he means the SC dsp 2.2.3 since he lists it up there.

wow, do you think he manually typed all that??? i just figured it was a winamp mistake since it was there twice, in his server side and client side winamp...

funnily enough, "Libraby" appears in 6 other threads when you search the forums.

OP, you need onefornunz. install that, search the forums for it.

i've just realised it's two setups listed as one block - that'll teach me to first have looked at it at 3am my time. if it is the v2 Source DSP, then it'd most likely be running in v1 mode which isn't known to have issues in that mode (that i'm properly aware off / able to reproduce).

Dunno, though it looks like it might have been manually done or taken from a nunz output and manually edited. though the proper log would have been better for finding out OS info, etc.

i just don't know there's much which can be done as the Source DSP isn't officially supported as an Icecast source i.e. i don't have the time (or official designation of resources) to work on issues with an alternative broadcasting platform.
