Modify Bitrate and channels

Hi All,

May be a newbie question

If my sc_trans encode a MP3 at 64 Kbs with 2 channels, does the bitrate is divide by 2 with only one channel or not ?

Because I need to decrease the bitrate when the listener have a low internet connexion.
Modify the samplerate can be an other way ?
