I know this has probably been dealt with before but I think I need someone to hold my hand here, I'm at my wits end. I have these mp3s of old 78s and want to convert them so I can burn them. They're 8 bit mono and I need them to be 16 bit stereo. I know it can be done with Cdex but I don't know which encoder to use or what the settings should be. I've tried every combination I can think of. I really need to be walked through this. I've also done it in the past with Blaze Media pro but my trial copy is expired and I don't want to purchase it since this is probably the last time I'll want to do this procedure. Thanks in advance for any help.

In CDEX, go to the Setup window>Encoder and choose Wave output encoder. Configure as you wish and there you go.

Okay, where do I go from here?
I've converted the mp3s (to wav files)and my cd burner program will recognize them but all I get are crackles and pops. Do you know what I've done wrong? HELP!!!

Open up those WAV files in windows' sound recorder (should be Soundrec32.exe in the Windows folder). Sound recorder allows you to convert and save as any kind of WAV file. The way to do it is File -> Properties -> Convert now, and to convert the WAV file to CD Quality and then save it. Your burning program should now flawlessly recognize it.

You're a genius
Hi Neo (just like in Matrix eh?)
Thanks so much for your help, everything worked out great. I've been browsing other strings referring to this same situation and that's the first time I've come across this suggestion. I must have downloaded 6 different media programs in the last week not even realizing that the appropriate program was already on the system. Thanks again, you've made my day, week, month and year. I've got the same problem. What's CDEX? Is it something connected to Winamp? Or is it a separate programme? In that case, where can I get it? I'd be very grateful for help, and even more grateful for quick help (need it tomorrow). |
