Homestead is now a pay service- which REALLY sucks, as it was the best place to keep images. F2s is on the decline- now that everyone and their mother knows abouts it, there is a huge delay after I FTP to it. Plus you cant link images to it.

Soooooooo finally i am pushed over the brink- i am going
to actually get a legitimate domain

SO- does anyone have a legitimate pay service that they can reccomend me (or tell me to stay away from)

I prefer it to be an all-in-one payment (i.e. paying for domain registration and drivespace in one bill)

I wanna get this goin pretty quick... so hurry up and respond dammit

phpwebhosting.com is good. For US$9.95 a month you get 125Mb with PHP4, a MySQL database, and as many POP3 mail accounts as you want.

It doesn't do domain registration for you as a one-stop service, though. I parked my domain at DomainDirect, opened my account at phpwebhosting, and then used DomainDirect's domain control panel to point nameserver info to phpwebhosting. It's not that complicated really.

you'd have to have a static IP for that, i.e., broadband, not dialup, for it to work. If I had broadband (I will soon) I'd have already had everything hosted on it

No, use this http://www.******.com/ Download the client and it allows dynamic or static ip's.

I use this along with Apache webserver.

That's why I didn't use Homestead.......

I totally thought Homestead sucked any way so I used Tripod!
Not too shabby and the ads can be a popup or a customizable one at the top of your pages.

For examples of my work go to :

http://jnhood666.*********** -> James's World Of Stuff

http://hoodj666.*********** -> James's FF7 World

Good luck with whatever you try!

Hehehe:

code:
TRIPOD AD CRACK:

<html>
<head>
<title>YadaYada</title>
</head>
<noscript>
<body>
</noscript>
<body bgcolor="######" ...>

</body>
</html>

It basically just messes up the bot to make it think that the first <body> is the real one and sticks the popup code there. Unless if they found out and changed it since I've tested it...

yes but tripod doesn't allow external links, and if u have an external link, they ban u!!! jesus it doesn't take alot for them to kick you off their servers. ppl in the winamp forums want somewhere to host their sigs.

that's why i'll host 'em if someone doesn't have a place to host his sig
